Mignolet is understood to want talks with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp before deciding whether to leave Liverpool this summer.

Messi finally scores as Rojo's late stunner sends Argentina to the next round

Jorge Sampoali's players - if they are his players - pulled themselves together after the Croatia shambles to set up a last-16 clash with France   Despite all the in-fighting, bickering and conspiracy theories that have dominated the dark few days since losing to Croatia, Argentina somehow got themselves together and qualified for the World Cup last-16, setting up a fascinating meeting with France. For so long it looked like yet more strife for Jorge Sampaoli's side, or rather what is supposed to be Jorge Sampaoli's side. And there will most likely be more strife to come, because while this was a huge result for Argentina, it is surely a case of delaying the inevitable implosion. Lionel Messi opened the scoring with a typically sublime goal, but after Victor Moses scored from the spot just after half-time Argentina needed a sweetly struck volley from Marcos Rojo in the 86th minute to claim their place in the next round.   To give them their due, they

The Belgium international will become a free agent on July 1 if it transpires that he has not signed a new contract at Old Trafford, and a move away from the club would bring his five-year stay in Manchester to an end. Fellaini has been a divisive figure among United supporters since being signed by David Moyes in September 2013, making just 16 Premier League appearances in his first season at the club.  He enjoyed a brief renaissance under Jose Mourinho, playing 28 times in the top flight in 2016-17, but his opportunities were limited again the following season after Paul Pogba's arrival. AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli said Fellaini co

Pastore won five Ligue 1 titles at PSG but fell out of favour under Unai Emery in 2017-18 and, due to his lack of playing time at club level, was overlooked for Argentina's World Cup squad.  The playmaker spent two productive seasons in Serie A with Palermo prior to his move to Paris, and he is delighted to be back in familiar surroundings. Rebellious Argentina Players to pick team by themselves

Every struggling team needs a scapegoat, and Argentina has found one in manager Jorge Sampaoli. According to reports, Argentina players will pick the squad Tuesday against Nigeria in an all-important match with Sampaoli no longer making decisions. So far, through two matches in the 2018 World Cup at Russia, Argentina has mustered just one point with a 1-1 draw against Iceland and a 3-0 loss to Croatia. Sampaoli has not started Juventus star Paulo Dybala in both games, so he could be a change the players make leading up to Tuesday's game. His club teammate Gonzalo Higuain also has largely been absent from the pitch during the World Cup. Argentina nearly missed the World Cup altogether, needing a Messi hat-trick in the final qualifying match just to punch a ticket to Russia.

Messi is frustrated and desperate, says Mascherano

Lionel Messi is frustrated and desperate to turn Argentina's World Cup around, according to Javier Mascherano. Jorge Sampaoli's men are facing a group-stage exit in Russia after collecting just one point from their opening two games. Messi, who turned 31 on Sunday, is yet to score or provide an assist at the showpiece event, while he had a penalty saved during a 1-1 draw with Iceland. Mascherano, whose team must beat Nigeria on Tuesday to have any chance of reaching the last 16, said the star forward was only human. "Leo is fine," he told a news conference. "But as a collective, where things don't go as we'd like, we all have our own frustrations. "He's human and he has his own frustrations but he's desperate to turn the situation around. "He wants to show the world a different image to the one we've shown in the first two games."

Denis Cheryshev: From Madrid flop to World Cup sensation

Image
The midfielder is lighting up the tournament for the host nation, with three goals in their two games. It is a far cry from his time at the Bernabeu Denis Cheryshev has had to wait patiently for this moment. The Russian winger has appeared only sparingly for his national team in recent years and looked to be frozen out just months before the start of the World Cup. Now, he is one of the tournament’s star players. Cheryshev came off the bench in Russia’s opening game against Saudi Arabia and made an instant impact with his pace and trickery. He scored the hosts’ second goal with a fantastic piece of control and fine finish, adding another super strike with the outside of his left foot right at the end. Against Egypt, he then scored again and is now among the top scorers with three goals in his two games. Not long ago, however, it looked like he may not be here at all.    After making his debut for Russia in 2012, Cheryshev did not feature in 2015 and 2016. Cut from the
