Manchester United have cooled their interest in Leicester defender Harry Maguire and turned their attentions to Barcelona's Yerry Mina.
It was reported last week that United had made an approach to sign Maguire, who they value at £65m, but Leicester are adamant the central defender will not be sold.
It now looks like Maguire will stay at King Power Stadium. Leicester are expected to open talks over an improved contract in the coming weeks.
It is though United could seal the deal for Mina from Barcelona for as little as £30m, just seven months after they signed him from Brazilian club Palmeiras for £10m
Mina but has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp after struggling for a place in Ernesto Valverde's starting XI appearing just four times in La Liga.
He was more successful at the World Cup this summer, where he scored three goals in as many games for Colombia - including the last minute equaliser against England in the last 16.
Wolves and Everton, who have already bought Mina's former Barcelona team-mate Lucas Digne, are also interested in signing the centre-half.
Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to join Juventus after the Italian champions decided to pay the €100 million (£88m/$116m) release clause in his Real Madrid contract, according to O Jogo . Juventus have analysed the financial aspects of signing the Portugal superstar and, in addition to the fee, are prepared to hand Ronaldo a four-year contract worth €120m (£101m/$140m). Ronaldo’s relationship with Madrid president Florentino Perez has broken down amid a failure to agree a new contract and the 33-year-old has decided to join Juventus.
Maurizio Sarri’s fate as Chelsea’s head coach will in effect be determined over the remainder of this month as the Italian seeks to convince the club’s hierarchy that he can recover some poise and still deliver Champions League qualification for next season. Sunday’s humiliating 6-0 thrashing at Manchester City, Chelsea’s worst defeat since 1991 and a loss which confirmed a drop from fourth to sixth place, has left Sarri clinging to his position only seven months into a three-year deal. The head coach will hope progress in the Europa League, starting with Thursday’s knockout tie at Malmö, earns him time, given the competition’s winners gain entry into next season’s Champions League. Yet eliminating the side who finished third in the Swedish league last season would only marginally bolster his job prospects unless a team clearly struggling to come to terms with his tactical demands can improve their performances over a daunting run of domestic fixtures.
